Timber felling

Timber felling is one of the main activities of "Cherepovetsles".

"Cherepovetsles" consists of 6 timber logging enterprises located in the North-Western part of the Vologda region. More than 1,2 mln. cbm of timber are delivered to the buyers annually, including:

Type Diameter Length
Spruce and pine sawlogs 14cm — 55cm 4m — 6m
Birch plywood beginning from 16cm 3,3m — 5m
Aspen, birch, spruce, pine pulpwood beginning from 6cm 4m

Timber felling is done all the year round but primarily during winter period.

Currently major part of timber felling is done using traditional technology (Canadian one). It means clear felling in the forests assigned for final felling with the usage of Russian machinery and equipment.

Lately "Cherepovetsles" has been actively developing Scandinavian felling technology, i.e. selective felling. This technology is used by "Belozerskles" and "Belousovoles". Other timber logging enterprises are also gradually introducing this technology and up to 30% of total timber volume is produced using selective, gradual, environmental and cleaning felling.

Various Russian machinery and equipment are used by timber logging enterprises. Efficient foreign equipment and machinery is being introduced at the enterprises of "Cherepovetsles" step by step according to the adopted by the company plans. The company actively cooperates with "John Deere". Currently 2 feller-bunchers ,15 forwarders, 4 harvesters, 5 produced by the company "John Deere" and also HSM and Velmet equipment are used in production.

Service maintenance of John Deere machinery and equipment is carried out in authorized service center "Belozerskservice", which was opened on the basis of "Belozerskles" by joint efforts of "TimberJack" and "Cherepovetsles"

The products are transported to the customers by water, trucks and railway.
