During the last few years Cherepovetsles is actively developing woodworking production.

In 1999 the company started to develop the project of a modern sawmill. Chipper-canter technologies were chosen for round timber processing and production of sawntimber with maximum output. By-products: sawdust and chips are used for further industrial processing.

Equipment for the sawmill was delivered by German company SAB. The employees of the sawmill were trained and certified according to Visual strength grading system.

In summer 2001 two lines for sawing and sorting were put into operation. The full-scale production started in July 2002, after sorting and debarking lines with production capacity 200 thousand cbm per year were put into operation. In 2005 chip classification line began to operate. The products are dried in drying kilns which were put into operation in complex with the boiler that uses sawdust as fuel Designed production capacity of the enterprise is minimum 60.000 m3 of sawntimber per year. Only high-quality coniferous timber is used for production as raw material.

The sawmill is located some meters away from the port of Niznya Mondoma (Belozersky district), on the bank of the Beloe Ozero (White Lake). Therefore the company has an opportunity to deliver products by vessels of "river — sea" type, as well as by trucks and railway with additional transshipment.

Sawntimber is delivered to European countries where it is used for glued constructions, furniture, planed sawntimber, construction units and packing materials production.

Plywood and furniture factory in Cherepovets, Sheksna board factory and Segezha pulp and paper factory are the consumers of chips. Special area for chips loading is equipped in the port.

Production of moulded strips at sawmill is in sight.

Within the framework of wood processing development, the sawing line with annual volume of 10 thousand cbm of broadleaf sawntimber per year was put into operation on the basis of "Belozerskles" in summer 2002.

In December, 2004 a boiler using waste as fuel and drying kilns were put into operation. Production of dry sawntimber allowed the enterprise to enter new markets. Sawntimber is produced from broadleaf species and is used for furniture and pallet production.

Belozersky timber logging company produces logs for houses and bath-houses. Logs are processed by SBS-22 machines produced by Sverdlovsk plant in Russia. Each machine produces up to 250 running meters of logs with diameter 18 and 22 cm and length 3-6 meters per shift. Pine and aspen timber are used as raw materials (for bath-houses construction).

Belozersky timber logging company takes orders from enterprises and private persons and the goods are tailor-made as per customer’s projects. Terms of production depend on the order and its complexity. The enterprise does not make complete sets. This production is well-known and popular not only in the Vologda region, but also in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Kaliningrad.
