"Cherepovetsles"became one of the participants of the international project"Verifying the Legal Origin of Russian Timber"within the framework of the FLEGT process.
This project was initiated by Russian and Denmark representative offices of WWF. It is aimed at development and introduction of new systems to verify the legality of Russian forest production to assure Danish consumers of Russian timber?s legal origin. Supervision over researches is carried out by Federal Agency of Russian forestry of Russia and the Denmark Department of the environment.

Holding company "Cherepovetsles" has successfully passed the audit on conformity of its activity to the Standard of product chain certification 2.0 GFA, thus having closed the entire production and trading chain of FSC certificated production.

The group of American researchers, representatives of Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and Buffalo University have got acquainted with the experience of FSC-certification in "Belozersky LPH".
During their visit to Belozersk the delegation has visited timber felling sites with different kinds of felling, nursery, sawmill in Niznya Mondoma. They have met with management of "Belozersky LPH", "Cherepovetsles", forestry enterprise (leshoz) and Belozersk local administration and took part in round-table conference "Sustainable forestry and social and economic development".

The largest enterprise in the structure of "Cherepovetsles" "Belozersky LPH" has received COC (Chain of Custody) certificate for sawntimber produced at the sawmill in Niznya Mondoma.

Joint Stock company "Cherepovetsles" has received the certificate on conformity to ISO 9001:2000 standard for quality management system. Audit was carried out by international company Det Norske Veritas.
The following services were certificated: services on preparation, conclusion and complete handling of contracts on timber supply including production control, storing, shipment, transportation and customs clearance of timber products.

The first consignment of birch sawn timber has been shipped to England. 120 cbm of birch sawn timber were processed at drying complex of OOO "Belozerskles".

Timber logging companies of Cherepovetsles have finished year 2004 ahead of schedule as regards to basic activities of the companies.
Volume of felling over 12 months of 2004 has made 1.237 thousand cbm in comparison with the planned volume — 1.160 thousand cbm. More than 400 thousand cbm of round timber have been felled using Scandinavian technology. Increase over delivery program by 8% was reached and has made 1.270 thousand cbm. Output grew by 10 percent over plan.
