The Vologda region governor visited the fuel briquettes plant of the Belozersky forestry enterprise
The Vologda Region Governor, Oleg Kuvshinnikov, was on a working visit to the Belozersky district. The head of the region visited wood processing and wood fuel briquettes production at the sawmill of the Belozersky Forestry Enterprise, which is part of OAO Cherepovetsles holding.
The governor arrived in Nizhnyaya Mondoma village to meet with the management and staff of the separate subdivision "Sawmill" of the Belozersky Forestry Enterprise, which is part of the Cherepovetsles holding company. The company successfully fulfills the governor's instructions on the transition to new environmentally friendly and energy-efficient fuels. Almost all boiler houses of the district switched to pellets from a local manufacturer. Governor instructed to work out the issue of creating logistics centers and markets for biofuels from a local manufacturer, as well as the supply of pellets to residents of the region.
Valery Pisarev, Director General of OAO LHK Cherepovetsles, noted that an investment project is being implemented in the Belozersky district to create a modern production facility for deep wood processing, included by the Russian Federation Government in the list of forest development priority projects. The production of fuel briquettes was launched in December 2014. The capacity of the enterprise is designed for 10 thousand tons of fuel briquettes per year. For 9 months of this year, more than 4.5 thousand tons of briquettes were produced. The products of the Belozersky plant go to the boiler houses of Belozersky district, are delivered to Cherepovets and Kirillovsky districts, Moscow, as well as outside of Russia - to Holland, England and Belgium.
Governor noted the success of the Belozersky district in the timber industry: in terms of timber harvesting, the municipality ranks 3rd in the region and 4th in sawn timber production, and the Vologda Region ranks 2nd in the country in wood processing and wooden houses production, therefore the timber industry is one of the priorities.
The Governor instructed the regional Department of the Forestry Complex to prepare and hold a presentation of biofuel producers operating in the region within the International Exhibition "Russian Forest, and also to evaluate the effectiveness of using biofuels as an alternative fuel by the population of the region.
